Ballet
Teaches students strength, discipline, and rhythm, ballet is a very strict yet fun genre. At AIM we follow the teachings of the Cecchetti method, which is known as Classical Ballet. The five basic positions of the feet in ballet are the foundation of every other step in classical ballet. If you are looking for a great way to help your child socialize with other children, and learn great life skills, ballet classes is a great place to start.

Jazz
Jazz is the development of body alignment, coordination, balance and rhythmic awareness with correct terminology and technique. Dancers expand their musicality and phrasing to build skills that create a well-rounded, technically strong jazz dancer

Tap
Type of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The sound is made by shoes that have a metal “tap” on the toe and heel.

Polynesian Island Dancing
Learning various styles of Island Dancing, dancers can learn Hula-Implementation-Tahitian-Maori. Along with learning the style, dancers will also learn the terminology. Come and ‘talk story’ with our wonderful and knowledgeable ‘Kumus’ (teachers). Meaning of each dance will be explained as well.

Lyrical
Combining ballet and jazz, this genre often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer/song.

Musical Theatre
Filled with Broadway style dancing and music, this class incorporates the style of dance one would see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.

Hip Hop
Street dance primarily performed to urban/hip hop music. Using different elements of style from b-boy to locking or tutting to freestyling. Not only is hip hop a form of dance, it is a culture. Students will learn the vocabulary and origin of basic steps while having fun and connecting with the music.
